Holly Rees has been a friend of Monkey Fist since the beginning. As a recently qualified Vet Holly has been very busy of late, she has however begun to push her climbing again. We asked Holly a few questions about her climbing and Monkey Fist

The big question Holly, why do you climb?

It's challenging, fun, sociable and very different from my day job! Plus, I've been climbing so long I cant imagine not doing it!

Best or most memorable climbing experience?

Tricky... I love Dumbarton, my many sessions there were great! I think my upcoming Rocklands trip might fit into this category!

Why taking care of your skin is so important to you and your climbing?

Without skin, you can't climb. My skin gets very dry working and climbing, so I am  always using monkey fist. Usually before bed every night and any time my skin is dry.

Top grades, hardest onsights, ascents you're psyched on having done?

Psyched to do Taylor Made at Dinas Rock, my first V9, in only a couple of sessions. And Saluki, a V8 there that I'd been trying for years! Various other 7b/7b+'s elsewhere. My hardest ascent is Caroline a V10 I climbed in Rocklands SA. I'm currently projecting other V10’s and making good progress

Future climbing goals?

Boulder 8a in the near future!
