Why do you climb?
“Good question, I guess coming from a climbing family it was almost routine from a young age. I went away from it and played a number of other sports but after a few years of that I started to focused 100% on climbing. The fun and challenge of it dragged me back, I also love the amount of diffrent aspects climbing has to offer, from bouldering to ice I just love it all”
Best or most memorable climbing experience?
“Out of all my climbing experiences I had one truly mega day in Magic Wood. Where I flashed two 7c boulders, 7c+ in a handfull of goes and my first 8a”
“Worst climbing experience would have to be my accident back in 2011, I decked out off a route and broke my back in 3 places. After 14 weeks in a back brace and not following doctors advise was back on the climbing, although at the time I didn't think it had affected my climbing I started to get really nervous climbing above gear, even climbing above bolts was playing with my head. Took a long time to get over the fear factor of leading”
Why taking care of your skin is important to you and your climbing?
“Ive always struggled with bad skin, more so now I'm route setting quite often. Nothing worst than trying a project and getting shut down due to bad skin. Monkey Fist is brilliant, for me the best climbing balm out there”
Top grades, hardest onsights, Ascents your psyched on having done?
“ Coming from a trad background I've mainly been focused on that, I've climbed E7 and new routes up to E6. Ive bouldered V11 and managed to onsight the odd fr7c. Sport climbing is something I really want to work on, a serious weakest of mine is not being dedicated enough to project stuff, thats beginning to change (2016 update, still not changed!!)! Watch this space haha.”
